Did you know? The iconic Lamborghini Countach was presented to the world in Geneva on the 11th of March 1971. It would become a true automotive icon, setting the course for the then young supercar maker forever. All modern Lamborghini cars share the same DNA as their ancestor from 1971.
Lamborghini Countach would go into production in 1974 and be manufactured until 1990. During the sixteen years, countless variants and models would be made. In total, 1 983 cars were built. The car was succeeded with the (almost) equally iconic Lamborghini Diablo.
The design of the Countach was developed by the Italian design house Bertone, by the famous automotive designer Marcello Gandini.
The name Countach? Originates from the Piedmontese dialect and translates to "wow" or "my goodness". The true story behind the name is quite interesting, almost as interesting as the car itself. We will return to it in a coming blog post.
Happy Birthday!
