Having previously visited the Chernobyl, the Vatican, and the Louvre thanks to our Special Events department - it was time for a new event, and what better location than London during Christmas time?
On November 25th, on a cool London night the group, consisting of about 20 pairs, arrived to the extremely elegant Roseweood Hotel in central London during the afternoon. Later the same evening, everyone was welcomed into the "Living Room" for a glass of champagne and a mingle. Followed by a briefing from Peter, and a special guest appearance from RBW electric classics who presented their exciting project and the cars on display in the courtyard.
Shortly afterwards, it was time to head to the completely privatised British Museum.
In the courtyard, there was a fleet of Mercedes V-Class shuttles to transport us. A short drive later, we arrived to the quite imposing entrance to the massive building. With nobody inside except for us and our guides - it felt particularly serene.
We were first introduced to the guides, and then split up into several smaller groups in order to get the most personal experience possible.
Over the next two hours, we were guided through some of the most important pieces in the absolutely vast displayed collection. (Which we would learn is only a fraction of the total of 7.5 Million artifacts in ownership of The Museum.) The starting point was, of course, the Rosetta Stone, from which we would take a chronological tour of the Egyptian, Greek, and Roman-era artifacts, ending with the late Anglo-Roman time. All while learning a small bit of history related to each display piece, thanks to the absolutely stellar guides we had.
At the very end, it was time for a group photo, before we would once again find the fleet of shuttles awaiting us, to take us to the restaurant for dinner.
Pied-a-Terre was the destination for the evening. It is known for being the longest-standing Michelin star restaurant in London, and in our book, it justifies that status.
An eight-course tasting menu, each course paired with it's own wine followed, and it was nothing short of perfect. The atmosphere inside the room with the entire group was warm and joyful, and the air was full of lively conversation, laughter, and clinking glasses late into the night.
It was an absolutely magical evening, from beginning to end, with a fantastic group of people. Thank you for joining us, and for making this night one to remember. We hope to see you again soon.
The next special event will be published in March. Can you guess what it will be?
