Tenuta Guado al Tasso

A fantastic winery in the Bolgheri region

On the coast of Tuscany, there is a small protected area of Bolgheri. Today, it is one of the key winemaking regions in Tuscany, and is rightfully well-respected. Only here can a wine be made which would bear the designation.

Just under an hour south of Pisa, you will find Tenuta Guado al Tasso, directly in the middle of Bolgheri. It is one of the best winery in this region. Something worth mentioning is that Guado al Tasso is run by the Antinori family of winemakers, arguably the most well-known family in all of Tuscany, and beyond.

They make "only" six different wines here, however one completely stands out of the crowd in my opinion. A Super Tuscan named Il Bruciato, made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah grapes. A lesser known fact about Super Tuscans is that they were born in this very region. And this is absolutely the best red from this region. A must-try if you're in the area.
