SR65 - Futa Pass

A famous mountain pass between Mugello and Imola.

Passo della Futa goes, roughly speaking, between the village of Barberino di Mugello in the south and Bologna in the north. The road is often part of the annual Mille Miglia rally. That is why many Mille Miglia signs remain.

If you start from Barberino di Mugello, not far from the Mugello race track, you will be climbing up the mountains with the lake Bilancino behind you, and miles of hills all around. There are plenty of good vista points here. When you are closer to the top, the road gets increasingly technical in nature. Long sweeping turns now become hairpins, allowing you to experience your supercar in various conditions.

At the very top you will find Ristorante Passo della Futa - where you will likely find other supercars parked, with their drivers having a nice break with an Italian lunch inside.

Later, you continue North. The road becomes even more dynamic - while it is connecting one hillside to the other, and back again, you will get a glimpse of the valley below, before reaching the other side, and being surrounded by more woods yet again. The amount of elevation and scenery changes, turn after turn is just stupendous, and it keeps you excited for each new corner, all the way until the end. You will ultimately descend into the Bologna metropolitan area.

The road is great fun, but beware of asphalt quality at times. Also, it is very popular in the summer weekends for motorcycles and bicyclists.
