From the beginning, the hotel's main building was a summer residence for a wealthy family from the United States. They were looking for a secluded place to spend the summer months, often with prominent guests from all over the world.

In the early sixties, the house was transformed into a hotel. Hotel Il Pellicano saw the light of day, and was popular with the movie stars, royalty and super rich of the time – the ones called "jet setters".

This tradition has been preserved to this day. The hotel has a large number of regulars who, for generations, have spent their summer months here. In cases where there are some rooms that are not booked, they can cost a fortune. Also, you may not be able to book for one night only. Sometimes the hotel requires you to book a whole week.

Hotel Il Pellicano has a swimming pool, a spa, two restaurants and a very nice beach. The beach is reached by a custom-built elevator from the pool area.
