The Grand Hotel Tremezzo is an iconic art nouveau masterpiece sitting on the western shores of Lake Como. It opened already in 1910 and was modelled after the great hotels in Europe during the period. Unlike Villa d'Este, which was once a lavish residence, Grand Hotel Tremezzo was purpose-built as a hotel from the start.

The hotel quickly became very popular during the Belle Epoque, where decadence and excess were in fashion. High society from all over the world had Lake Como as a favourite destination.
