A fantastic mountain pass in Switzerland
This is another great mountain pass in Switzerland. Connecting the village of Gletsch in Valais and Andermatt in uri, it is a great drive. Especially, if you drive from the west to the east, the uphill sections towards the peak are an amazing drive.
On the way you will pass the now defunct Hotel Belvedere, which is a good place to stop and enjoy the view.
Sadly, the part going downhill towards Andermatt is much less fun. The road becomes narrow and the asphalt can be quite bumpy. Also, you have quite steep drops and barriers made out of wood. Here, it is more of a challenge than a great drive. This sadly reduces the overall score for this road.
Going uphill from Gletsch to the peak is absolutely top score, but the down hill section towards Andermatt is not that much fun. Actually quite scary.
Parts of the James Bond movie Goldfinger were shot on the downhill section. There is also a corner dedicated to the film.
This mountain pass is perfect to combine with Susten and Furka pass.
A perfect companion on your next road trip to the most beautiful country in the world.
