A village with cute little smurf houses
Not far from Bari is a unique world heritage site. The small village of Alberobello, with about 10,000 inhabitants. Here is a whole neighbourhood built in a type of house unique to the region called Trulli.
The houses are white and have a specially designed stone roof. The roof is built by laying flat pieces of stone on each other in smaller and smaller circles. The result is a roof similar to a top hat.
Alberobello has hundreds of these houses. It looks like a little smurf village. Very cute! If you are lucky and find a guide you can even see what they look like inside. As the houses today have a considerable value, many are renovated to perfect condition and fully modern inside.
