Following our event in 2010 and 2017, we are happy to present the 2018 edition. The 2018 edition is five days long - first three days on track, then a one day road trip to Lake Balaton.
The event starts on the 14th of August, with check-in to our hotel and a drivers briefing in the conference area. The same evening we go for dinner to a restaurant near by - the Dunacorso, which has a nice out door terrace facing the river.
Following three days we spend on Hungaroring. The first day on track starts with lunch, a safety briefing and two warm up sessions on the track. The two days after we start driving on the track in the early morning.
Each day, we have Gran Turismo After Track on the hotel terrace at 19. Then, at about 20, we go for dinner. Every day we visit a new restaurant in Budapest - all walking distance from the hotel.
On Saturday there is no track driving. Instead, we head for a super car road trip to Lake Balaton, about 1.5 hours driving away. Lake Balaton is a major summer destination in Hungary. After lunch, we head home to the closing dinner of the event, and the night life of Budapest.
On the banks of river Danube lays a city that is a favourite for many of us Budapest. With over 3 million inhabitants, it is one of the larger metropolitan areas in Europe. Scattered with beautiful architecture and wide streets, its been dubbed "the Paris of the East".
Becoming very popular in the roaring 1920s for its many SPAs and decadent partying, it created a tradition of good atmosphere and hospitality not often found in cities of that size.
Hungaroring was built in 1985, hosting its first Formula 1 championship in 1986. Situated on Bernie Ecclestone road, 19km from the centre of town by the village Mogyorod, its in the centre of a natural valley surrounded by 50 acres of lush rolling hillsides.
The total length of the track is 4.3 kilometres and the main straight is almost 800 metres long. There are both quick and slow turns, with a height difference from lowest to highest point of 36 metres.
Considered a quite technical track by F1-drivers, it suites our fast supercars much better and is a lot of fun. It is also a very safe venue since it has to meet the strictest safety requirements set by the FIA.
We have two and a half day on the track with experienced instructors to show us the correct line. We will be driving according to open pit lane regulations, except for the first hours of the day which is exclusive for beginners. Two and a half days on the track means that you can relax and enjoy the circuit with no stress. During our days, we have full hospitality and lunch on the track.
InterContinental Budapest is located at one of the most prestigious areas of Hungarys capital beside the landmark Chain Bridge along the charming Danube Promenade. With dazzling views over the Royal Palace and the magnificent Budapest riverscape, the hotel boasts one of the citys most sought-after locations.
The hotel also has safe parking for our cars in their garage and a terrace right on the Danube. Perfect for having a cold beer after a day on the track. The hotel is also close to the nightlife and everything else Budapest has to offer.
